Bit of help . . .

'Kay. The situation stands thus:

I got a bunch of stamps from a collector who no longer wanted his world collection, because he wants to focus on Canada/the Netherlands. Most of these are antique. So. I check out the envelope labeled "Iran," and I find stamps that say "Postes Persanes." Many of these have lions on them, as though this were a national symbol. Others have men wearing hats that look - I swear I'm not being funny - like that helmet Marvin the Martian wore on Looney Tunes. Most have no dates, although some are from the early part of the 20th century for sure.

Do I have Persian stamps here? Because I know the early, early ones (1902, 1911, 1907) are Persian, but I don't know if "Persanes" would indicate Persian, or Iranian in some other language.

Thanks!
Nina
